LCD or OLED?
What's the Difference?
LCD
Liquid Crystal Display
LCD screens have been around since the 60s and have proved to be a great method for producing a bright and vibrant display. This is due to a powerful backlight that provides each pixel with an abundence of light.
OLED
Organic Light Emitting Diode
OLED screens are fairly new, and have revolutionised digital display technology. Each pixel is independently illuminated, resulting it richer colours, and darker blacks.
LCDs are slightly thicker than OLEDs.
If your iPhone was originally fitted with an OLED,
an LCD replacement screen may lie slightly proud.
However, their thickness results in higher durability, and may still work even when smashed.
OLEDs are slimmer and lighter than LCDs,
seamlessly fitting into the iPhone's body.
